Our Purpose

To Glorify God

Our Mission

Share Christ. Build Believers. Serve others.

We hold these values:

Prayer

Prayer is Foundational: Colossians 4:2, James 5:16, Matthew 5:44-45

      • Prayer is the foundation of all we do and must be present in every aspect of      our mission to Share Christ, Build Believers and Serve Others.
      • We will commit to pray for our ministries, the families in our church, the            people in our community, the missionaries we support, and for both the              church and lost globally.
      • The leaders of our church will lead by example and make prayer a priority as       they shepherd and lead our church with Christ.

Sharing Christ

Great Commission Driven:  Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20

        • Great commission orientation to our ministries, that the church does not exist for           itself, it exists for the mission that God has given her.
        • We desire our congregation to have a clear sense of God’s mission for us and hope       to equip others to share Christ with others.
        • Our mission flows throughout our ministries, budget, and our priorities.
        • A willingness to change and take risks is crucial to ongoing effectiveness for                church ministry.

Ministry to the marginalized:   Leviticus 19:10, Proverbs 31:8-9, Acts 2:45, Matthew 25

        • We desire to be a church that ministers to the needy and support others who are           ministering around the world.
        • This often requires a long-term investment and sacrifice.
        • Our missionaries will be supported with prayer, finances and attention as we                   partner with them to reach others.
        •           We are mindful that every crisis is an opportunity for ministry.

Passion for lost people:  Genesis 12:2, Luke 15, 19:10

        • Jesus came to seek and save the lost.
        • We desire to have an outward and purposeful focus beyond the walls of the church.
        • Serving others is one way we hope to create an opportunity to evangelize.
        • Sharing faith is a process and most effective in the context of relationship.

Building Believers

Centrality of the Bible:  Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:22-25

        • The Bible is full of living power able to transform human beings and                therefore will be central in all of our ministries.
        • The Bible exists not just for information but for transformation, with an           emphasis on both community and personal application.
        • In our teaching and ministries, we want to emphasize variety and creativity      in which we approach teaching the Bible.  This would include                            understanding learning styles, cultural trends and understanding of how          people learn best.

Community Groups are a “life-line” for spiritual growth:  Hebrews 10:24-25,

                    Acts 2:42-47

        • Community groups are where people have the best opportunity to know          others and to be known by others in order to provide encouragement,              accountability and love.
        • Community groups are highly valuable for spiritual growth and spiritual          formation.
        • Community groups are foundational for us as a church in carrying out the        mission of the church.
        • Community groups should be prioritized for all ages and in all ministries          such that is “normal” for every believer to be in a group.

Worship is a lifestyle: Romans 12:1-2, Matthew 22:37-40, John 15

        • Worship goes beyond the church you attend, it is a lifestyle to be pursued.
        • Worship that glorifies God and engages the heart, the mind and the                   emotions of our people leads to loving obedience to God, and actions             towards others in all of who we are.
        • We recognize that only through the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to      live transformed and worshipful lives in Christ.
        • We believe this is a life-long process of pursuit and growth.
        • Intimacy with God happens through actively following Christ.
        • We encourage spiritual formation and the utilization of a variety of                  spiritual disciplines (prayer, scripture, journaling etc…) to grow in our              intimacy with God.

Serving Others

Grace-Oriented Ministry: Romans 2:1-4, 3:23-24

        • God’s grace speaks to the heart and satisfies the soul and leads us to him.
        • It is our desire to reflect God’s grace in our lives and ministry by loving,                accepting and serving others.
        • We intend to communicate a warm and caring faith to others rather than                legalism.
        • We desire to create environments of grace that foster forgiveness and                  authenticity in our relationships.

 Cultural relevance:  1 Corinthians 9:19-23,

        • Life in Christ is experienced through the cultural context in which we live.
        • The message of Christ is counter-cultural, yet our lives in Him can never be fully separated from the culture in which we live, work and relate.
        • The Mission of the church must be carried out in context of culture, and           evangelism and discipleship methods and strategies should be executed         within that context.
        • The message remains the same; the methods must flex and change in             order to accomplish the mission.  (We will strive for cultural                             understanding while remaining doctrinally pure).

Ministry is best accomplished through healthy teams: Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 12

        • Greater impact when done together as a team versus working alone.
        • Team ministry leads to spiritual growth.
        • Encouragement and accountability are more conducive in a team setting.
        • Leadership development will be a desired result of team ministry.
