Faith and Hope Conclusion – Persevere!
Hebrews 12:1-3 and Jude 24

All of Hebrews 11 is pointing us to a challenge found in the beginning of Hebrews chapter 12. We can run the race God has marked out for us by looking to those who have gone before us, taking a look at ourselves and fixing our eyes on Jesus. How well are you running the race? What one thing might God be asking you to do, so you can run more completely for him?

    Easter Sunday 2017
    Mark 4:13-20, Luke 24:1-9 and 22-47

He is alive and because he lives, we can have life too. In this Easter message we look at how Jesus points to the Old Testament after his resurrection and discuss what it means to have our eyes opened to the truth of Scripture. What is the condition of your heart, and what step might God be asking you to take to deepen your faith with him?

Faith and Hope Part 9 – Rahab
    Hebrews 11:31, Joshua 2 and 6, Matthew 1:5 and Romans 5:1-5

Rahab being saved by faith can be seen as a foreshadowing of how we too can be spared from the justice we deserve (because of our sin) through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection.

Faith and Hope Part 8 – Jericho
    Hebrews 11:30, Joshua 6:1-5 and Matthew 19:26

The story of Jericho reminds us that God is with us when we face our walls in life. More importantly it is a reminder that because of Christ our victory has already been won. With that knowledge, we too can persevere!

Faith and Hope Part 7 – Moses
Scripture used: Matthew 19:26, Luke 1:37, Hebrews 3:1-6 and Hebrews 11:23-29

Moses' life points to an example that we can follow as we persevere in our faith.  Let us choose to: live for the imperishable, by focusing on the invisible, so that God can do the impossible through us.

Faith and Hope Part 4 – Noah
    Hebrews 11:7, Genesis 6 and 7:16, Proverbs 4:23, II Peter 3:9 and 13-15

God spoke, and Noah obeyed - despite the craziness of the request. God still speaks today, will we choose to obey so He can work?  Just like now was called to build a boat to save his family from the flood; today we are called to build the church to save the lost from the punishment we all deserve. God is being patient so we can live in a way that helps others to come to Him.

Faith and Hope Part 2 – Creation and Abel
    Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:15-18, Hebrews 11:1-4, Genesis 4:1-10, I John 3:11-19, Hebrews 12:24

In part 2 of this series, we see that the Creator of the Universe is the One we place our faith in and we explore the first of many Old Testament examples of faith. Abel gave his best to God and we too can leave a legacy of faith by doing the same. Abel reveals that faith is an external step of obedience, based on our internal hope and relationship with God.

Not captured in this recording is our introduction with the children's church group. We asked -  if they found a large bouncy ball in the corn field north of church if they would think 1) someone put it there or 2) it grew there on its own. They all agreed that it would be obvious that someone made it and put it there. The same is true with our universe, it has a creator and we have been created by him for a purpose.

    Faith and Hope
As we launch into a new series looking at Faith and Hope from the 11th chapter of Hebrews, we used this introductory message to provide us with context. The Hebrews were tempted to turn away from their new found faith in Christ because of the persecution they were facing. The Author encourages them to press on and live by faith.

In the middle of this weeks message we also utilized Hebrews 10:1-14 as a way to prepare our hearts for communion. A beautiful song, sung by Jane Eiker and Samantha Rose Brody, can be heard as our church family spends time examining our hearts before remembering Christ's sacrifice together.
